DESCRIPTION:Zega-Lockatong Preserve contains a beautiful old growth forest\, where on the first Thursday of each month we work to mitigate the effects of the introduced tree pathogen beech leaf disease (BLD) for overall forest health. We target areas where the canopy is dying back from BLD\, and remove invasive shrubs while protecting native saplings from herbivory. DESCRIPTION:Help us protect the old-growth forest system at Zega-Lockatong Preserve! We will be working on removing shrubby invasive plants\, caging saplings growing in canopy gaps\, and maintaining active stewardship areas. We will also record observations of the level of beech leaf disease present.
